Diane Dunbar

Diane Dunbar, 81, of Pittsburg, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2022, at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg.

She was born Feb. 3, 1941, in Pittsburg, the daughter of Ernest and Lucille (Lofton) Dunbar. She graduated from Pittsburg High School and attended Kansas State College, now Pittsburg State University.

She moved to Kansas City and worked for Southwestern Bell as an operator. Later she moved back to Pittsburg and worked for the Census Bureau before becoming a Nurse's Aide caring for others.

Membership was held in the South Broadway Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school, and also played on the church softball team, where she played pitcher.

Survivors include her nephews, Mike Turnbull and his wife, Bobbie, Mark Turnbull and his wife, Sherry, David Turnbull and his wife, Diana, Randy Turnbull and his wife, Tammy, and Danny Dunbar and his wife, Kay; a niece, Kathie Gilmore and her husband, John; a niece-in-law, Pat Turnbull; several great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Gerald Dunbar, a sister, Betty Turnbull, and a nephew, Steve Turnbull.

A Private Family Memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the South Broadway Baptist Church.
