Karen Louise Brown passed away peacefully in the early afternoon hours of Nov. 7, 2022. Karen, daughter of Aaron and Lois Smith, was born on Dec. 21, 1943, in Kansas City, Missouri. She grew up in Pittsburg, Kansas and attended Pittsburg schools.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, James Smith, and son, Scott Brown. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Gary Brown and two children: son, Kenneth Brown (Donna), daughter, Robyn Bell Brown and brother, Gary Smith (Verna). She was immensely proud of her grandchildren: Cecily Brown (Fiancé Christian Compton), Aaron Brown (Monica), Jeremy Bell, and great-grandchildren Jonathon Brown and Aiden Brown.

Karen never met a stranger and welcomed all with genuine compassion and love. She was very active in her church and brought a spirit of encouragement, cheer and fun everywhere she went. Karen will be dearly missed.

Per Karen’s wishes, a Celebration of Life Party for Karen’s family and friends will be held (at a later date to be announced) to remember the good times, celebrate a life well-lived and pay final respects.

Expressions of love and sympathy may be viewed and placed at Emerald Coast Funeral Home & Cremations, Fort Walton Beach, Florida, www.emeraldcoastfuneralhome.com.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation at Karen L. Brown — Kidney Tributes (kidneytribute.rallybound.org/Karenbrown1943).
