FREDONIA, Kan. — A Parsons man was killed and a Larned man seriously injured in a head-on collision on US-400 highway less than half a mile east of the K-39 junction in Wilson County on Tuesday, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

54-year-old James R. White Jr. of Parsons was driving eastbound in a 2011 Chevy Malibu and 23-year-old Korey W. Ladenburger of Larned was traveling westbound in a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 when White crossed the center line into the westbound lane of traffic around 6:13 p.m., according to the KHP crash report.

Ladenburger attempted to avoid the collision by entering the eastbound lane, but White crossed back into the eastbound lane and struck Ladenburger head-on, the KHP said.

White was fatally injured in the crash, according to the KHP, while Ladenburger was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita for treatment of suspected serious injuries.
