Patrick Allen Price, age 78, of Carl Junction, entered into eternal rest on Friday, Oct. 14, 2022. A loving father and dedicated husband, Pat passed peacefully at his home with his wife and three daughters by his side. He will be greatly missed and will forever hold a special place in the hearts of family and friends.

Pat was born in Joplin, Missouri, on June 10, 1944, to the union of Howard and Helen (Hulvey) Price. He was a long-time resident of Galena, Kansas. He graduated from Galena High School in 1962 and then earned a bachelor's degree in business marketing at Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg (now Pittsburg State University). Pat also served his country proudly in the Army National Guard for four years.

On June 2, 1967, he married his one true love and high school sweetheart, Gailya Smith, and together the couple raised three girls and many animals.

During his life, Pat was an entrepreneur and pursued several career paths. He owned multiple business machine distributorships before eventually returning to work on the family farm in 1999, where he managed livestock and operated a custom hauling service.

At the time of his passing, Pat was a member of Crossroads Christian Church in Baxter Springs. Earlier, he had attended Sixth Street Baptist Church in Galena, where he served as Chairman of Deacons for many years.

Pat stayed busy with numerous pastimes throughout life. He enjoyed taking the grandkids fishing and hunting. Having owned several Corvettes over the years, he and Gailya were members of the Route 66 Corvette Cruisers Club, enjoying many outings with those dear friends. He also volunteered regularly at Show-Me Birds and participated in the hunting events sponsored by that organization. He loved working on the farm and taking care of all his "girls." (Each of the barnyard animals was generally given a name).

Survivors include his wife, Gailya Price of Carl Junction; three daughters, Gina Jungmann (husband, Brent) of Columbia, Missouri, Jana Allison (husband, Chad) of Carl Junction, Trisha Osborne (husband, Cory) of Galena; 11 grandkids: Tyler, Brenyn, Reagan, Nate, Jacob, Alec, Joshua, Jaylee, Carston, Blayne, Chesney; four great-grandkids; and one sister Carol Capron of Webb City.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Jack Capron.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2022, at Fellowship Baptist Church of Baxter Springs, Kansas. Pastor Shane Dotson will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Galena. Pallbearers serving will be Brenyn Jungmann, Reagan Wilson, Tye Wilson, Nate Dickey, Jacob Allison, Alec Price, Joshua Allison, Carston Osborne, and Blayne Jungmann, with honorary pallbearers Harlan Russell and Tonny Bailey.

Visitation will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2022, at Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Heady Foundation. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
