It’s more important than ever to stay informed with trusted fact-based local news.
The Morning Sun shows up at government and school board meetings; new business ribbon cuttings; high school and University sporting events; art festivals and all the activities that connect us as a community. You send us out and we report back so you can stay informed with trusted local news. The bad news is the nationwide decline in local journalism is impacting us here in southeast Kansas. The decline of advertising and subscription dollars do not cover the costs of news gathering. The good news is we are creating the Support Local Journalism Project, a nonpartisan philanthropic initiative dedicated to providing quality local news that brings about healthy, informed and thriving communities.
This new collaboration between The Morning Sun, Pittsburg State University and the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas will allow you to help financially support the reporters who bring the “Local Life” news(sports, arts and culture events; local business news; and government and school board happenings). When you donate to the Support Local Journalism Fund your donation will fund the “Local Life” news beat reporters and the investigative reporting series identified by the Support Local Journalism Project. Your tax-deductible donation to the Project must be made through the Community Foundation, a 501c(3) public charity.
Thank you for supporting journalism and local news, contribute by clicking on the donate button for a more vibrant, informed and thriving community.
