Charlotte R. Cook

Our dear mother, Charlotte R. Cook, Pittsburg, KS sadly passed away on February 14, 2024, at the age of 83 in Pittsburg, Kansas.

Charlotte was born on August 10, 1940, to Albert Lowell and Elizabeth Pearle (Haslam) Laughlin in Pittsburg, KS.

She was a wonderful mother to her children and surrogate mother to many of those who knew her. Charlotte devoted her life to the Lord, her husband, children, and family. She was a member of the Nazarene Church her entire life and she had a servant’s heart and always wanted others to know the love of Jesus. She always looked for the best in others and truly believed each person she encountered was a blessing.

Charlotte was a homemaker and worked various jobs throughout her adult life, however prior to her retirement she worked as a program trainer for New Horizons for over 25 years. Working with adults with developmental disabilities was one of her true passions in life.

Charlotte attended Pittsburg schools and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1958. While attending Bethany Nazarene College in Bethany, OK, she met G.W. Cook at a picnic and they later married on September 26, 1959, at the First Church of the Nazarene in Pittsburg, KS.

Charlotte had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren making this her pride and joy in life.

She is survived by four daughters, Cheryl (Cheri) Diane Kipp (Chris) of Edwardsville, KS, Rebecca (Becky) Cloe of Chandler, AZ, Cathleen (Cathy) Garrison (Russ) of Kansas City, Kansas, and Andrea Scott (Jeff) of Pittsburg, KS; 16 grandchildren, Robbie Docherty (Katie), Beth Park (Tim), Ryan Kipp (Ashley), Ashley Jones (Derek), Danielle Johnson (Kevin), Lance Thompson (Courtney), Breahna Cloe, Cole Hamblin, Hope Stark (Cody), Carson Scott (Mackenzie), Hannah Gonzales (Jonathan), Emma Scott, and 19 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Gene Roberts, and a brother, Albert Laughlin Jr.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at the Brenner Mortuary with Pastors Jim Sukraw and Adam Parrish officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Brenner Mortuary in Pittsburg, KS.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Pitt Naz Church.
