Courtney was born to Clayton and Gloria Spencer on January 13, 1980, in Fort Scott, Kansas. She grew up in Mulberry, Kansas, and attended Girard High School. Courtney later obtained a license in cosmetology from Fort Scott Community College.

Courtney was married to Justin Mintz, and they later divorced. From that union came one son, Spencer Mintz.

As many know, Courtney battled addiction for nearly 20 years but has now been set free. Some of the best years of her life were spent at Heartland Recovery in Bethel, Missouri, a faith-based program that helped her take her life back for 4.5 years.

Courtney is preceded in death by her father, Clayton; her paternal grandparents, Rose and Carol Spencer, and step-grandfather, Charles Morey; her maternal grandparents, Edwin and Doris King; and two very dear friends, Peggy Beam and Lorita Gobl.

She is survived by her mother, Gloria; son, Spencer Mintz; her brother, Craig (Kim) Spencer, and nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to all who have supported them in this heart-wrenching fight against addiction.
