Gayla Keller

Gayla Ann Keller, age 72, of Pittsburg, Kansas, passed away at her home, on Sunday, February 25, 2024.

Gayla was born May 18, 1951 to the late Gail and Maxine (Myer) Murry in Joplin, Missouri. She married James F. Keller on October 14, 1972 in Pittsburg, Kansas. He survives of the home. Prior to working as a paraprofessional for USD 250, she retired from the Pittsburg Morning Sun.

Also preceding her in death was a sister, Judy Souza, and nieces, Jan Elizabeth Greenfeather and Diane Belante.

Gayla was adored and loved by all who knew her. She loved Elvis, picnics in the park, going for long Sunday drives, enjoying a cherry Coke, or a slice of coconut cream pie.

Above all, she treasured her time with her grandkids, kids and family. They were her deepest joy and greatest blessings.

Survivors include her son, Jordan Fredrick Keller (wife, Carrie) of Pittsburg, KS; her daughter, Kari Ann Poznich (husband, Thomas Jr.) of Gardner, KS; grandchildren, Treycin Kee, Jayden Keller, Gage Keller, Korbin Poznich, Jackson Poznich, Grant Poznich, Kennedy Poznich, and Luke Poznich; brothers, John Murry (wife, Cathy) of Baxter Springs, KS, and Jerry Murry (wife, Marcia) of Riverton, KS and their daughters, Brandi Martin and Morgan Smith; sister, Barbara Green of Baxter Springs, KS and her daughters, Sara Roy and Kendal Higginbotham; brother-in-law, Tony Keller (wife, Marilyn) of Pittsburg, KS and their children, Tim, Kimberly, Jennifer, and Jeff; sister-in-law, JaneAnn Turigliatto (husband, Art) of Astoria, OR, and their children Corey, Adam and Alicia Marie; nieces, Angela Vera and Amy Mashburn of Texas; and many extended nieces, nephews, "Nettles Kids", and treasured friends.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Derfelt's Baxter Chapel of Baxter Springs, Kansas, and will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The family will receive friends Friday, March 1, 2024 at the funeral home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to be made payable to the Gayla Memorial Fund, and left in care of the funeral home, or mailed to the Kansas Teacher's Community Credit Union in Pittsburg, KS.
