We are sad to announce the passing of Margie A. Sumpter of Pittsburg, Kansas. She was 88 years old.
Margie was born on December 22, 1935 in Arma, Kansas and went home to our Heavenly Father on February 21, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jimmy" Ward Sumpter; her son, James Joseph Sumpter; and her parents, Charlie and Mary Knaup.
Margie is survived by her daughter-in-law, Tonja Sumpter; her sisters, Darleen Bledsoe, Arlene Moyer, and Sharon Shannon; grandchildren, Sean Sumpter, Tyler Sumpter, and Shannon Spragg, as well as his wife and their four children. As a young adult, Margie was a beautician and an office professional, but her heart was at the home. She spent most of her life as a homemaker, creating memories and providing care for everyone she loved. She was a faithful, loving wife who had a quiet dignity. She and Jim were a perfect pair. They adored and cared for their loved ones more than anything in the world. Margie was the solid rock of the family where, love, good times, good food, and bad humor are at the forefront. She will be dearly missed.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 2nd at the Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg, Kansas. Friends and family are asked to meet at the cemetery.
