Daniel Cleve (Sonny) Renn

Daniel Cleve (Sonny) Renn, 82, of rural Pittsburg, passed away January 7, 2024 at KU Medical Center after a short illness.

Sonny was born June 12, 1941 to Cleve Renn and Lily (Janeski) Renn in rural Pittsburg, Kansas. He grew up in the Lone Star area and attended the Lone Star Grade School. He attended Crawford Community High School of Cherokee, Kansas where he graduated in 1959. Sonny married Alice Bogle on August 19, 1960 at the Methodist Church in Pittsburg, Kansas.

In his youth he enjoyed being a member of the Win or Bust 4-H group, where they were known for their square-dancing skills. Sonny was a life-long farmer. He was a member of Beulah Community Church where he served as a past board member. He served as a past board member of Rural Water District 4. He knew and enjoyed the land with both his farming and outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, fur trapping, and harvesting asparagus.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father in-laws George and Faye Bogle, grandson Eli Worsley, brother in-law Tom Wishart, brother in-law Jerry Shultz, and sister in-law Lynnor Bogle.

Survivors include his wife Alice of the home; daughter Cindy Butler (and husband Tom) of Olathe, Kansas; son Daniel Renn (and wife Donna) of rural Pittsburg; and daughter Deanna Worsley (and husband Gene) of rural Pittsburg; five grandchildren, Jessica Bouzianis (Steven), Amy Beaman (Coty), Paul, Adam, and Caleb Worsley; five great-granddaughters, Grace, Rachel, Miriam, and Hope Bouzianis, and Allyson Beaman; sisters, Clarene McNew (Philip) and Delores Wishart; brother, Gary Renn (Colleen); brother-in-law, G.M. Bogle; sister-in-law, Mary Schultz; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Brenner Mortuary. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2024 at the Brenner Mortuary with Pastor Murray Balk conducting the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beulah Community Church. Burial at Girard Cemetery will follow.
