Dorothy J. Brunk Boore

Dorothy J. Brunk Boore, 94, of Conway, Arkansas, died peacefully in her home in Conway on Friday December 29, 2023, surrounded by her family, whom she loved dearly.

She was born to Arville and Lottie Brunk on April 5, l929, in rural Arma, KS. She attended Girard High School for 2½ years and graduated from Arma High School in l946.

Dorothy married Edward L. Boore at Mt. Olive Baptist Church rural Girard, Kansas on June 26, l949. This was the first wedding to ever be held at this church. He preceded her in death on October 28, 2000, after 51 years of sharing a wonderful life together.

In her early married life, Mrs. Boore was a homemaker, and as her girls grew older, she entered the work force as a part-time employee at the Crawford County Extension Office. In 1966, she went to work at the Census Bureau in Pittsburg, Kansas where she was employed for 4½ years. She retired from the Farmers Home Administration in Girard, after 17½ years of service in April l989.

She was an active member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Girard, KS from l948 to 2016, where she served as Clerk of the church for many years. At the time of her death, she was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Conway, Arkansas.

With her husband and then after his death, Dorothy enjoyed many wonderful family vacations, both national and international.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Dwayne; husband, Edward; two sisters: Bea Chiapetta and Mildred Nicoletti; two brothers: Carl Brunk and Harry Brunk; four brothers-in-law: Wayne Boore, Bud Chiapetta, Sam Nicoletti, and Jack Hardister; three sisters-in-law: Betty Brunk, Maybelle Brunk, and Freda Boore Hardister; one nephew, Larry Brunk; and two nieces, Betty Chiappetta Gorentz and Pam Brunk Hockett.

She is survived by three daughters, Debra Sue Swart (and husband, Jeff) of Conway, AR, Beverly Jean Ferrell (and husband, Don) of Tyler, TX, and Kaye Lynn Harkness (and husband, Rob) of Conway, AR; seven grandchildren: Joshua Swart (and wife, Michelle); Andrew Swart (and wife, Carman); Rachel Swart McCrary (and husband, Jonathan); Shannan Ferrell McEuen, Shawna Ferrell Tunnell (and husband, Nathan); Adrienne DeMott Goering (and husband, Michael), Matthew DeMott (and wife, Kristin); 22 great-grandchildren: Lincoln and Graham Goering of Bentonville, AR; Madyson, Zachary, Cooper and Alexander McEuen, of Bullard, TX; Tristan, Noah, Hosanna, and Malachi of Hawkins, TX; Laine, Ellie, Shepherd, and MacArthur Swart of Ft. Worth, TX; Copeland, Eisley, Gideon, and Kipling McCrary of Little Rock, AR; Ellis, Nora, and Owen DeMott of Bentonville, AR; and Saylor Swart and Avi Coy, of Mt. Juliet, TN; one step-granddaughter: Michelle Holcomb (and husband, Steve) of Beebe, AR; two step-great-grandchildren: Megan and Nick Stane of Beebe, AR; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Judy Boore and sister-in-law, Joan Boore, all of Girard, KS, and many nieces and nephews.

She deeply loved all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and loved being with them.

Visitation will be at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church rural Girard, KS on Saturday January 6, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with the Revs. Tom Lewis, Andy Swart, and Jeff Swart, officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Girard Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials made be made in Dorothy's honor to Mt. Olive Baptist Church, P.O.
