Helen Jean (Hockett) Coffman

Helen Jean (Hockett) Coffman went to be with the Lord on April 3, 2024.

She was born July 17, 1926, in Cherokee County, KS to Walter Ray Hockett and Anna May (Dixon) Hockett. She attended local schools and graduated from Riverton High School in 1944.

Helen worked for the Berry Garment Factory in Columbus, KS, making clothing for the military during WWII. She went to Kansas City, MO, to work for Montgomery Wards and later Sears.

On February 27, 1949, she was united in marriage to Ernest Edward Coffman at the East Minister Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, MO.

She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Sue Dickens, her husband, Steven, and a grandson, Jason Dickens all of Carthage, MO; a brother, Lloyd Hockett, and wife Sue of Sequim, WA; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 67 years, and two sisters, Juanita Hockett and Leone June Bartlett.

Membership was held in the Trinity Baptist Church in Pittsburg. She taught in the Children's Department for several years. An additional membership was held in The Kirkwood Friendship Club. She Loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, family, and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. April 12, 2024, at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg with Rev. Greg Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in the Quaker Valley Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church. These may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
