Mary Jane Cavanaugh, 88, of Goddard, Kansas, died Friday, July 15, 2022, at Dove Estates in Goddard. Mary Jane was born on March 11, 1934, to William and Adella (Battitori) Hartog in Ringo, Kansas.
Mary Jane graduated from Girard High School in 1951 and worked as a steno clerk until she married Andrew James "AJ" Cavanaugh in Girard, Kansas, on June 30, 1956. Mary Jane then worked from their home as the office manager for AJ's insurance agency. She was integral to his success as a Prudential agent in Wichita, Goddard, and Girard.
Preceding Mary Jane in death were her parents, William and Adella Hartog, sister Lorine Blessant, and husband AJ only two weeks ago. Survivors include their children, Chris Cavanaugh (Mary Kay) of Goddard, Patty Harrigan (John) of Prairie Village, Mike Cavanaugh (Mary Ann) of Pittsburg, and Susan Pavelitz (Steve) of Madison, Alabama, eleven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
Family visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Girard, followed by a funeral mass at 10 a.m. There will be a graveside service immediately after mass at the Girard Cemetery.
