Shirley Williams

Shirley Williams, 83, Weir, KS, went to her Heavenly home to be with her Heavenly Father and a host of family and friends on February 29, 2024, at 10:51 a.m. at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her loving family.

Shirley was born December 2, 1940, to the union of Helen Edna (Gregory) Thompson and James Russell Thompson in Weir, KS. Mom lived most all of her life in Weir, KS, spending a short time in Miami, OK, then moving back to spend the rest of her life in Weir. On June 10, 1956, Shirley married Carl Edward Williams of Mindenmines, MO, in Miami, OK. They were married for 49 years.

Preceding her in death is her father, James R. Thompson, and mother, Helen Thompson; husband, Carl Willams; brothers, Jim Thompson and John Thompson; sisters-in-law, Francene Thompson and Francis Thompson; father-in-law, Clay Williams, and mother-in-law, Elizabeth Williams; one nephew, Mark Thompson; nieces, Debbie Thompson and Kathy Sanders, and several aunts and uncles.

Survivors include two daughters, Sherri Howey (Kenny) Baxter Springs, KS, Karla Chadd (Doug) Pittsburg, KS; two sons, Clayton Williams (Donnell) Adrian, MO, Christopher Williams (Carrie), Weir, KS; grandchildren, Kenny Howey (Jennifer) Olathe, KS, Kurtis Howey (Kristine) Ozark, MO, Shawnda Howey, Grove, OK, Clayton W. Williams, Weir, KS, Krystal Tangleman (Brian) Topeka, KS, Tammy Renn (Brian), Carl Junction, MO, Alex Bruey (Joe), Carl Junction, MO, Ryan Minta (Courtnie) Kearney, MO, Tayler Enlow (Cody) Adrian, MO, Amanda Burke (Sean) Pittsburg, KS, Blake Chadd ( Jessica), Pittsburg, KS, Logan Kichler (Justin) Walnut, KS, Emma Edwards, Cherokee, KS; 25 great-grandchildren with two due in 2024, three great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Shirley was a homemaker for part of her life doing numerous jobs around Weir, cleaning homes, ironing for people, and was known to do some haircutting on the front porch and several perms as well as sewing and alterations for people all during her life. She was involved in her children's school and outside activities during their childhood and continued with her grandchildren. Mom became employed in 1967 by DeLetters, now known as U.S. Awards in Pittsburg, KS, where she worked 49 years and retired in 2016. She was a Christian attending Bethel Church in Baxter Springs, KS.

There will be a Celebration of Life at Bethel Church in Baxter Springs, KS on March 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.
