William J. Brooks

William J. "Bill" Brooks, 97, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away on March 30, 2024, at Medicalodges of Pittsburg in Pittsburg, KS.

Bill was born on August 10, 1926, to William and Emma (Sinclair) Brooks in Pittsburg, KS. He married Maxine Lavon Tims on December 9, 1944, in Chelsea, OK. She preceded him in death on June 12, 2011.

Bill was a truck driver for many years. He worked for a variety of different trucking companies around the area. He then went to work at Pittsburg State University in the Physical Plant. After retiring from PSU he went to work for Ryder Truck Rental as a transfer driver.

Bill was a resident at Guest Home Estates for the last 8 years until recently going to Medicalodges of Pittsburg after a fall.

He is survived by two sons, Robert "Bob" Brooks (Jo) of Olathe, KS, and Steven Brooks (Janet) of Columbus, KS; two daughters, Sharon E Jones (Ray) of Girard, KS, and Donna Parrill (Phil) of Columbus, KS; 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, William E. "Bill" Brooks, daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Brooks, 2 brothers, Everett Brooks and Chester Karnes, and 2 sisters, Hazel Williams and Lilly Redd.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Crocker Cemetery with Daryl Gaddy officiating. A Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Brenner Mortuary prior to the graveside service. Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association. The family would like to thank Dr. Bethany Enoch, Guest Home Estates, and Medicalodges of Pittsburg for the excellent care given to their dad. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS.
